Cabinet Painting Paint Products

I use Advance paint by Benjamin Moore which is a waterborne alkyd, truly this paint is incredible for its beauty and longs lasting results. Unlike Oil based paints this product is very low VOC’s significantly improves the dry time and is non-yellowing. Bonding primers are used for raw wood allowing for the paint to adhere properly.

Our Process For Painting Cabinets

Firstly, is removing the cabinet doors hinges and hardware, also number the location of every door and drawer. Secondly, cleaning any oil and grease from the cabinets. Thirdly, sand the lacquer or the old layer of paint. In fact, this one of the most important steps in the prep stages, because you want excellent adhesion. Forth, we apply the bonding primer to any raw wood. Fifth, the final prepping stage, vacuum all cabinets and tack cloth to remove dust. Neatly caulk any seam joints and putty nail holes. We are now ready to paint the cabinets.

Before and After Cabinet PaintingAs mentioned, Festool provides us with the best solution. Obviously, hand sanding requires lots of labor and dust. However the HEPA vacuum combined with their non-aggressive sander 2mm stroke is like magic. In fact it captures 99% of the dust particles that could be floating in the air and into your HVAC system! Overall, using Festool has significantly improved the sanding process and helps achieve a more beautiful paint finish.  In conclusion, using good bonding primers, meticulous sanding, and two coats of paint will provide amazing results.
